Are Pumpkins Safe for Cats?
The short answer is “yes,” pumpkins are safe for cats. However, be sure that the pumpkin is plain and cooked. Don’t feed your cat pumpkin with seasoning or pie filling. Your best bet is canned pumpkin which is often filled with water. Avoid spices such as ginger, nutmeg, and cloves as well. This low-calorie orange veggie is a treat for your cat, not a complete meal. So even though pumpkins have loads of health benefits for pets, remember that pets can’t live on treats alone; so you need to still include their traditional meat-based meals.
“Pumpkin is filled with fiber, water, potassium, phosphorus, and calcium.
Other benefits of pumpkin includes minerals and vitamins including A, C and K, according to the Animal Emergency & Referral Center of Minnesota.”
